Things to do in Milton Keynes with a Toddler

Daddy is doing the Milton Keynes marathon on Monday. Is there anything for my toddler and I to do while we wait? My research has turned up these things to do in Milton Keynes with a toddler…

Bletchley Park

At Bletchley Park you can learn the story and secrets of the codebreakers based here during World War Two. Adults are £18.50, but under 12s go free which makes this a decently priced option. That price includes unlimited free returns for 12 months, which would be handy if you lived in the area. I think it would be really interesting place to visit. Not sure how much I would get to see with a toddler though… There are family trails which guide you around the highlights and provide you with activities. And there is a children’s playground next to Hut 4 for a bit of a run about. If the weather forecast is looking good, there is also plenty of space to enjoy a picnic. And importantly there are plenty of baby changing facilities and the buildings have easy access for buggies.

Snozone

Snozone is an indoor ski slope, allowing you to get that winter fix all year round. It’s not of much appeal for us having just spent 5 months in a ski resort. But 3 and overs can go sledging on the real snow at this indoor ski slope. Or the 2 and overs can come for a simple play in the snow on a Wednesday or Friday morning.

Bounce

Bounce is one of that new breed of trampoline park that seem to be popping up all over the place; they claim to be the first and original. However, it’s limited to the over 3s unfortunately. My 2 and a half year old loves jumping around at our local trampoline park, so it is a shame that we’re not old enough for this one yet.

Gulliver’s Land

Horribly, I think that Gulliver’s Land would be Daisy’s choice for our day out. I suspect it would be rather busy on a Bank Holiday Monday though. This theme park is specifically aimed at children aged between 2 and 13. There are over 70 rides and shows, providing an exciting day out for a toddler. Some of the rides and shows are designed for the under 5s. And this is another option where you can take your own picnic. However, it does sound a bit pricey. If you buy in advance online, adult tickets are £17.95 and the under 90 cms are free. However, for those taller folks, children over 90 cms are also a whopping £17.95 if tickets are bought in advance. Now, I wonder how tall Daisy is these days…!

Dino and Farm Park

This Dino and Farm Park has to be a big winner for dinosaur fans. Owned by the same people as the theme park above, there are roaring, walking and clawing dinos to discover. And you can even ride one if you are tall enough (90 cm)! At this dual site, there is also a farm where you can meet all sorts of favourite farmyard animals. If you buy in advance online, adult tickets are £9.95 and the under 90 cms are free. For those taller folks, children over 90 cms are also £9.95 if tickets are bought in advance. Now, I wonder how tall Daisy is these days…!

Has anyone got any other suggestions? Watch this space to see which option we go for…

  1. I have not been to Milton Keynes yet, although it is not too far from me in Norwich. The Bletchley Park sounds interesting, so will have to check it out. Thanks for sharing on #TheWeeklyPostcard.

    1. Yes, I’m really interested to see the actual place that I have heard so much about from various movies.

  2. I’ve heard good things about Gulliver’s, it’s meant to be a cheaper and quieter alternative to the big theme parks. However, I haven’t yet gone to try it out even though it’s only an hour from us! #Theweeklypostcard

    1. I was impressed by how well it absorbed the crowds – the car park was packed as it was a sunny bank holiday – but inside it wasn’t too bad at all.

  3. I haven’t been to Milton Keynes yet. My daughter is only 9 months old but I guess we´d end up going to the Gulliver’s Land #TheWeeklyPostcard

  4. How did hubby do in the marathon? I’m hearing such great things about Bounce around the UK – would love to take my boys. I’m intrigued to find out what you ended up doing 🙂

Thanks for linking up to #fearlessfamtrav

    1. He didn’t do that well – lack of training led to legs seizing up – maybe he’ll do more training next time! My lo loves the indoor trampoline place near us in London, would definitely recommend it. They have special sessions on weekday mornings for the under 5s which work out to be fairly reasonable.

    1. I really like places that are fun for kids but also informative for adults. It is a hard balance to achieve.

  5. Cambridge isn’t all that from MK. I really want to take my lot to Bletchley Park before we leave. Thanks for the reminder (and for joining in with #culturedkids!) ?
